CHARLOTTE, N.C. — People have been saving their hard-earned money and planning for months. It's finally vacation season.

But it's likely many of those same people haven't given much thought to keeping their electronic devices and the information it contains secure during their trip. Luckily, the experts at the Better Business Bureau created a tech and travel cybersecurity checklist to follow before saying "bon voyage."

Here are seven tech tips for travel according to the Better Business Bureau

Secure photos, videos, music, applications and any other digital data on a device can be backed up before and during a trip. This will save people major headaches should their devices get lost or stolen during their travels.

Public cords and USB ports might not be what they seem. Cybercriminals use chargers to steal personal information from devices, so avoid using any public charging device.

Turn on the "find my phone" features and turn off "auto-join" for WiFi.

Make sure devices require a password to unlock them.

Check that operating systems and anti-virus software are current on all devices.

When logging into a streaming service on a TV at a hotel or a vacation rental, make sure to log out before checking out.

Don't make purchases on a device or log into any accounts using public WiFi.
